Future Event Horse (FEH) Guidelines March 20, 2012
The Future Event Horse (FEH) series is being offered as part of the Pilot Young Event Horse Series, as an addition to the Young Event Horse Series.
The FEH program focuses on yearlings, two-year-olds, and three-year-olds, and judges the potential they have to become a successful upper level event horse. Each age group is judged separately, and genders within the age group are judged separately when the number of entries allows. In order to compete in FEH classes and to aid the tracking of these young horses, Canadian Eventing requests that owners complete a Young Event Horse/Future Event Horse Registration Form for all horses. This information will be stored in our data base allowing us to track not only the bloodlines of the horse but their competition history as well. Please attach a copy of the horse's breed and registry papers if available. The Registration fee is $20.00 per horse per year made payable to Equine Canada.
Why Is It Important?
Experience is one of the many perks the FEH program offers. Most events, even at the lowest levels, are full of excitement and can be overwhelming for even the most experienced of horses. Giving young horses the opportunity to get out and gain experience is important in their early development. Plus, it lets handlers get a sneak peek into the future work ethic of their fledging eventer.
Another goal of the program is to bring more breeders into the world of eventing. While there are countless breeders who specialize in creating dressage and show jumping prospects, there are considerably fewer breeders who specialize in breeding specifically for eventing.
